Seneca Supervisors may use grant to help Seneca Dairy Systems build new plant

If the Seneca County Board of Supervisors Economic Development & Tourism Committee gives its approval when it meets Tuesday, the full board will then consider a motion later that evening to use grant money to help Seneca Dairy Systems LLC build a new manufacturing facility in Romulus.

The committee and full board will consider authorizing the submission of a Community Development Block Grant application to the state Office of Community Renewal for $525,000 to help pay for the construction of a new manufacturing plant for Earl Martin’s Seneca Dairy Systems.

If the grant is received, the county Economic Development Corporation would accept the grant, disburse it to Martin and administer the grant.

A public hearing would be conducted at 7 p.m. May 28 and a vote could follow. Martin wants to have a grant approved by the OCR on July 11 so he can break ground in August or September. The new plant would be on the former Seneca Army Depot property Martin bought from the county IDA in 2016.
