A 61-year-old woman was sentenced to three and a half years in state prison for an arson she started at a Canandaigua hotel in the wake of a relationship breakup.
On Wednesday, Cheryl Buckley was sentenced by Ontario County Court Judge Kristina Karle after she previously pleaded guilty to second-degree attempted arson.
“I just want to say that I’m very sorry for what I did.” said Buckley prior to sentencing.
Last September, Buckley lit a fire at the door of her ex, who was staying at the Pinewood Manor Motel. The ex was inside the room with another person. No one was seriously injured in the failed arson attempt, as firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the flames.
