In partnership with Hope Walk of Yates County, Rochester Regional Health’s Mobile Mammography Center will be offering free, state-of-the-art breast cancer screenings for any Yates County women next week at the Yates Cultural Recreational Resources building on North Main St. in Penn Yan. Their goal is to make screenings more accessible to women where they live and work.
The center visits locations such as businesses and health centers in neighborhoods and towns all through the greater Rochester Region. They ask organizations to partner with them to make mammograms more accessible to women in their communities with on-site screenings customized to meet the needs of any group.
The spacious mobile coach provides 3D mammograms accommodates women in a spa-like atmosphere, including two dressing rooms with privacy for patients. Results are evaluated by a board-certified Breast Imaging Radiologist. The coach is designed to screen every 15 minutes, or four women per hour. If a woman needs to use the handicapped lift, her appointment is 30 minutes. They are also equipped to screen walk-ins and the uninsured. Women must be at least 40 years of age, not exhibiting symptoms of breast-related problems and had a mammogram a year + one day from the screening event.
