NY moving forward with cashless tolling along Thruway

The New York State Thruway Authority has approved a $355.3 million contract that will eliminate toll booths along the entire Thruway by the end of 2020.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Monday the selection of the design-build team. Cashless Tolling Constructors, LLC will begin installing cashless tolls across the Thruway system in late summer or early fall of this year.

Once operational, motorists will no longer have to stop to pay tolls. Instead, sensors and cameras will read your E-ZPass and automatically charge you, or read your license plate and mail a toll bill to the registered owner.

The New York State Thruway Authority is reminding drivers that state law requires residents to keep their address current with the DMV to ensure bills are mailed to the proper owner. Drivers must update their address with the DMV within 10 days of moving.

Drivers can update their address with the DMV by going to dmv.ny.gov.
