Deputies: Geneva man accused of not reporting income to Geneva Housing Authority

Sheriff Kevin Henderson reports the arrest of a Geneva resident following an investigation involving the Geneva Housing Authority.

Deputies received a complaint from the Housing Authority that Hector Mendez, 65, of Geneva received housing assistance totaling $4,735 between June 2018 and July 2019.

Upon investigation it was determined that Mendez had a total of $10,925 in unreported income from two different employers.

Mendez was charged with two counts of offering a false instrument for filing in the first degree.

He was also charged with one count of grand larceny, since the total assistance exceeded $3,000.
