Lacrosse, lacrosse and more lacrosse at Shootout for Soldiers

The Shootout for Soldiers lacrosse event started Saturday with an opening ceremony at Canandaigua Academy and was followed by a game featuring all veterans.

And the games are meant to keep coming, as lacrosse is still to be played Sunday morning.

The Shootout, which calls for 23 games from Saturday afternoon into Sunday, marks the third straight summer for the 24-hour lacrosse game at Braves Field. The event raises money for U.S. military veterans. The Canandaigua event is one of more than a dozen in cities nationwide.

The fundraising goal for this year is $100,000. Proceeds go to Shootout For Soldiers, which donates funds to organizations that help veterans, as well as two local organizations.
