Middlesex Citizen Appreciation Day is Aug. 4

The 16th Annual Middlesex Citizen Appreciation Day will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 4 at the Middlesex Fire Hall, 5537 Water St. The program is sponsored jointly by the Town of Middlesex, the Middlesex Heritage Group and the Middlesex Fire Department. This year’s honorees include Donna Alexander, (Penn Yan), Robert Ostrander, MD (Rushville) and Claire Slack (Middlesex).

Donna Paddock Alexander is the daughter of Elden and Mary Paddock, born in January 1939. She married Bert Alexander in 1963.

Alexander is a life-long resident of the Penn Yan and Middlesex area. She graduated from Penn Yan Academy and Green Mountain College. She was employed by the Yates County Association for Handicapped Citizens for many years.

Alexander was an active volunteer. She was elected to the Marcus Whitman Board of Education in 1977; was the president from June of 1980 to 1986, and continued to serve through 1989. She was a member of the Middlesex Planning Board and Board of Trustees of Yates County History Society in the 1990s.
