Strong storms batter the Finger Lakes

Strong thunderstorms moved through the northern Finger Lakes and Rochester on Tuesday afternoon and will continue to be a threat into Wednesday for parts of the entire region. We have received a report of a tree severely damaging a home on Route 336, one-mile west of Fayette and a large tree down closing traffic on Jackson Street in Weedsport. Showers and thunderstorms likely before 1am, then a slight chance of showers between 1am and 2am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 68. Light south wind. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. High near 80. Calm wind becoming west around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
