The Amercian Legion building at Veterans Park was the site of a celebration Tuesday following a recent $400,000 upgrade to complete work for a modern, spacious community center.
“It’s a dream come true,” said East Bloomfield Town Supervisor Fred Wille, who spoke at a dedication ceremony at the center at 6910 Routes 5 and 20. Residents, elected officials and community leaders who attended included state Sen. Rich Funke, R-Perinton, who spoke. Also attending were some of those involved in the work, from grant writing to construction.
“Little by little we brought it back to life,” said Wille of the 44-year-old American Legion building.
A previous town project got the ball rolling with new windows, new roof and upgraded heating and security system. This final phase renovated the interior.
