Police investigating after 9/11 memorial defaced in Geneva

Police in Geneva are investigating after graffiti was found spray painted onto a memorial Tuesday morning.

Police said they were called about a criminal mischief complaint on the 9/11 memorial. The memorial is located on Long Pier in Geneva on Seneca Lake.

White spray paint covered the granite monument created “in memory and in honor of those who serve and protect our great country,” as the inscription reads. The memorial has since been cleaned up.

The memorial was installed in September 2016.

Anyone who may know more about this incident should contact the City of Geneva Police Department at (315) 828-6771.
