Hurricane Dorian offers opportunity for student meteorologists at Cornell to learn

As Hurricane Dorian moves through the Atlantic, the devastating storm is also a teaching moment for future meteorologists at Cornell University.

Mark Wysocki is the state climatologist for New York and lectures at Cornell University in the Meteorology Department.

He says Dorian stands out in a couple of ways – it’s power and how slow it’s been moving.

Wysocki says although hurricanes like Dorian are devastating, they offer the opportunity to learn more about the monster storms and pass that knowledge on to students.
