TOO LITTLE, TOO LATE: Syracuse can’t complete comeback, loses 16-10 at N.C. State (full coverage)

Questionable playcalling, questionable offensive line play, and questionable decisions by Syracuse football quarterback Tommy DeVito. That was the tale of Week 7 vs NC State.

The offense honestly hasn’t looked right since the season started back vs Liberty. Tommy DeVito was supposed to be the hand-selected prodigy of the Dino Babers offense. Yet instead of looking like the young fearless gunslinger from 2018 he’s looked like an overly flustered inexperienced newbie.

PREVIEW:

Syracuse (3-2, 0-1 ACC) returns to the field on Thursday to play NC State (3-2, 0-1 ACC) in its second conference game of the season. Kickoff at Carter-Finley Stadium is set for 8 p.m. on ESPN. It’s a pivotal matchup for both teams in a crowded ACC Atlantic Division.

Both squads had byes last Saturday. Syracuse used the time to get healthy, perform a detailed self-scout, and begin to get ready for the Wolfpack. Effectively utilizing that extra time has served the Orange well over the past decade. Since 2009, Syracuse is 11-6 (including bowl games) when it has an additional week to prepare.
