Police: Man pulled from burning vehicle in Canandaigua, airlifted to Strong Hospital (video)

Police say one person was airlifted from the scene of a crash, after being pulled from a vehicle which was on fire in Canandaigua on Saturday.

Around 5:20 p.m. first responders were called to a one-car accident on Western Boulevard in Canandaigua.

The vehicle was reported to be off the road; and when police arrived – they found a vehicle on fire.

A Canandaigua Professional Firefighter, New York State Trooper and good Samaritan successfully pulled the male driver from the burning vehicle and carried him to safety.

Police say the vehicle became engulfed in flames and Canandaigua Fire arrived on scene to extinguish the fire. The male driver was flown by Mercy to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries, which were not believed to be life threatening at the time.

The Canandaigua Police Department thanked the officer, trooper, and Good Samaritan who took action.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation, according to police.
