WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY: Snow will continue into the evening

NWS: Winter Weather Advisory

The National Weather Service says snow will stay in the forecast for the next 36 hours, but extremely cold temperatures will also make a return.

Here’s the latest, quick hitting forecast information for your Tuesday and Wednesday in the Finger Lakes:

– Snowfall will continue through the day. Expect 3-5 inches for a large part of the region by the time the system moves away this evening.

– Road conditions will vary throughout this event. However, crews should be able to stay ahead of the snow, as it will fall slowly, but steadily all day.

– Locations in the Southern Tier, like Bath, and Elmira could see 5-7 inches of total snow accumulation.

– As the snow tapers by evening, temperatures will stay flat in the upper-20s to around 30 degrees.

– Bursts of snow, heavy at times, will be likely on Wednesday, after a cold front passes through the region, according to FLX Weather Meteorologist Drew Montreuil. He said in a morning update that winds will shift to the northwest, and those bursts of snow will significantly reduce visibility during the day.

– Blowing snow will be a concern after the snow tapers on Wednesday.
