Legislature celebrates outgoing members, including former Yates Chair Dr. Dennis

Outgoing members of the Yates County Legislature were praised during their annual year-end meeting held on Monday.

Chairman Doug Paddock thanked Dr. Tim Dennis and Elden Morrison for their years of service. Dennis is a retired veterinarian, and served on the legislature for 12 years.

He was chair of the legislature from 2014 to 2017.

“Your candor will be missed,” Paddock said, according to the Finger Lakes Times. “Elden was always prepared. They will both be missed.”

Dennis cited his proudest accomplishments leading the legislature, which included starting the fiber optic ring and public transportation. While he noted there were financial ups- and downs, his overall tenure will be remembered fondly.

“At this point, we are in the strongest financial position this county has ever seen,” Dennis added.
