RIT (11-8-3) opened the scoring with 7:42 left in the first period after junior forward Jake Hamacher (Corona, CA/Dubuque Fighting Saints) set up freshman forward Caleb Moretz (Fairbanks, AK/Flin Flon Bombers) for a one-time in the slot.

The River Hawks answered 43 seconds later on a goal by freshman forward Andre Lee to knot the score, 1-1.
