Two fishermen rescued from Sodus Bay after falling through ice

Two fishermen were rescued by first responders after they crashed through the ice on Sodus Bay.

A father and son were reportedly ice fishing near Hunter Point Road when the ice gave way. The Alton Fire Department responded to the scene with help from other departments.

Witnesses called 911 around 12:15 p.m. Rescue crews promptly responded and rescued the fishermen using an airboat.

The son managed to get himself out of the water. However, the father had to be rescued by first responders directly.

Both were transported to Rochester General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to first responders.

First responders from Alton, North Rose, and Sodus responded.
