Prison City scores big with beer in Paste Magazine ranking

Prison City is getting some new recognition.

Paste Magazine placed Prison City Pub & Brewery’s Sad DEovition to Ancient Religion at No. 8 in a tasting of more than 65 lagers. The ranking was published on Monday by the magazine.

Paste writer Jim Vorel called the beer “among the most purely flavorful (and roasty) in the entire field,” The Citizen reported. “This beer feels huge, much bigger than it actually is, with a slight dark fruitiness that adds a subtly vinous character to a lager that is otherwise very intensely roasty, with massive coffee and dark chocolate notes.”
