Officials warn of Census scams as 2020 count begins

The Better Business Bureau is warning people about a few potential scams as one could come knocking on your door.

They note that understanding how the Census Bureau operates is important. They offered a series of tips for those who encounter folks who say they’re with the Bureau.

– Ask to see identification. Census takers have to carry a field badge, and must present it. That has a photograph of them on it.

– Look for a Census laptop or cellphone. It will have the Census logo on it.

– If you’re unsure, don’t hesitate to call 800-923-8282 to speak with a local representative.
