Lawsuit filed by local meteorologist against City of Rochester, Mayor Warren dismissed

A judge has dismissed the lawsuit filed by a former television meteorologist against the City of Rochester, Mayor Lovely Warren, as well as his former employer.

Jeremy Kappell filed claims last year after being fired from News10NBC, or WHEC-TV based in Rochester.

During a broadcast on January 4th, 2019 Kappell showed a photograph of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Square Park in Rochester.

As he spoke the name of the park, a racial slur was heard by viewers. Some in the community, including Warren, accused Kappell of using a racial slur and demanded he be fired. He said afterward that it was a ‘linguistic error’.
