On Wednesday around 5 p.m. deputies were called to investigate the report of a child left unattended in the Tops parking lot in Farmington.
Melissa Nichols, 29, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
Deputies say Nichols left her two year old child unattended in a vehicle in the parking lot of Tops on State Route 96.
She was issued an appearance ticket and will return to Farmington Town Court at a later date to answer the charge.
