Pregnant woman sent to hospital after being punched in the stomach repeatedly by Penn Yan man

A Penn Yan man was arrested on a variety of charges after a violent incident in the village this week.

Andrew Cranmer, 36, of Elm Street is accused of striking a pregnant woman in the stomach multiple times during a domestic assault.

Police say the victim was complaining of pain and bleeding by the time they arrived, and had to be transported to Thompson Hospital for treatment.

Cranmer was charged with aggravated family offense, a felony; attempted assault; harassment; and criminal mischief.

Police say hours after the incident – investigators could see a clearly distinguishable handprint on the victim’s arm.

Cranmer was transported to the Yates County Jail pending arraignment.
