West Niles, New Hope, Sempronious Rescue and FourTown Ambulance were called to the scene of a one car accident with injuries in the area of Gahwiler Rd. Roadside ditches in Owasco Lake watershed need work

The Owasco Lake Watershed Inspection Program assessed more than 100 town and county roadside ditches in the watershed totaling just under 10 miles. More than five miles, the program determined, are high priority to be stabilized. UPDATE: Family displaced, dog dies after Niles housefire

There weren’t any injuries reported, but crews were busy at an early morning fire in the Town of Niles. The structure fire was initially reported at 4582 Route 38A, which according to reporting by the Auburn Citizen took the life of a family dog. Cayuga County Legislature allocates $1 million for emergency road repairs

With flooding damage from July storms to southern Cayuga County roads wracking up large price tags, the county Legislature voted Wednesday night to allocate $1 million from the highway department’s fund balance for repairs. A Moravia woman is facing a felony charge after she allegedly drove drunk and crashed her car in the town of Niles Thursday afternoon, police said.
