15th Annual HGH Herding Competition in Rushville - Photos by Glenda Nash

A few photos from a unique competition here in the Finger Lakes that took place this weekend. Sheep Herding (by working dogs). The annual event was held at White Clover Sheep Farm in Rushville, NY on a cool, rainy Saturday afternoon.

The trial starts. HGH (herding utiilty dog, a German Shepherd) is quietly and calmly encouraging sheep to exit pen.

The judge standing in the lane is from Germany and handler in blue cap with crook is also being judged.

As owners of a different types of herding dog we found this most interesting and fun to watch despite the wind and rain.

One dog travelled from North Carolina to compete. The others were from New York.
