(Geneva)-Senator Charles Schumer will visit Geneva on Monday, December 22, and discuss issues of local concern including recently announced plans to keep open the Canandaigua V.A. Hospital.Blake Zeff, a spokesman for Sen. Charles Schumer, said late Thursday that representatives of the CARES commission announced earlier in the day that they plan to recommend keeping the center open. Schumer will speak Monday at a Geneva Chamber of Commerce lunch scheduled to begin at noon at the Ramada Inn. The Senator’s remarks will be broadcast live by WEOS 89.7 and 90.3 FM. Schumers comments will also be heard online at www.weos.org.The Finger Lakes Times reports today that members of the Capital Asset Realignment for Enhanced Service Commission are talking about moving 50 psychiatric inpatient beds from Canandaigua to VA facilities in Batavia or Buffalo and expanding outpatient services in Canandaigua.
