The Seneca-Cayuga tribe wants to build more than a Bingo hall on land in Aurelius. According to published reports, the tribe’s offer to Cayuga County and the towns of Aurelius and Montezuma to settle its dispute over the Bingo hall includes having Cayuga County help the tribe gain financial and political support for a Class 3 gaming facility. Aurelius officials have already rejected the offer, preferring to take their chances in court. Cayuga County lawmakers have held talks with the tribe about a settlement. The offer includes payments in lieu of taxes and a pledge not to sell gasoline or cigarettes at prices below those charged by other stores in the area.
