Newark Man Collides with Water Tank

A Newark man was injured yesterday when his car collided with an empty 11 hundred gallon water tank that had fallen off a passing truck. It happened on Route 318 in the town of Junius at about one o’clock yesterday afternoon. 27 year old Jose Colon-DeJesus was headed east when the tank fell from a truck in the westbound lane. Colon-DeJesus’ car went into a ditch and struck a utility pole. He was taken to Newark-Wayne Hospital for treatment of eye injuries caused by glass. Sheriff’s Deputies say a rope holding the tank in place came loose on the truck driven by 65 year old Arden Sorensen of Himrod. No charges have yet been filed.
