Sheriff Rob Outhouse reports that at 11:10 am Monday morning Deputies recovered the body of a subject that was reported missing to the Cayuga County Sheriffs Office at 8:42 PM last night (Sunday 07-03-05). Sheriff’s Deputies and Homer Fire Department Rescue personnel recovered the body.The body of Robert D. McDonald was located approx. 20 yards off the east shore at the north end of Lake Como in approximately six and a half feet of water. Lake Como is a small land locked lake in the Town of Summerhill in southeastern Cayuga County. Robert Mc Donald was 21 years old and resided on Bird Cemetery Road in the Town of Locke, also in southern Cayuga County.He was last seen at the Lake Como Inn shortly after midnight Saturday night where he was attending a family gathering. The Sheriff’s Office was notified nearly 21 hours later that the subject was missing. Investigators have yet to determine how the deceased entered the water or a definitive cause of death. The deceased was fully clothed and there was no apparent sign of trauma. An investigator from the Cayuga County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene. His investigation will continue with the assistance of the Onondaga County Medical Examiner and the Sheriff’s Office.Sheriff’s investigators are asking for the public’s assistance.
