Good News For Syracuse Basketball Fans!

If you cannot make it to the Carrier Dome for SU basketball, you’ll see almost every game on television this year thanks in part to a new all-sports channel from Time Warner Cable.Time Warner Cable plans to launch the all-sports Channel 26 in early December. Initial programming is expected to be shown from 8 a.m. to midnight. The new channel will show all the Syracuse basketball games not shown on ESPN, CBS, or ABC.The menu will include live and tape-delay games involving the hockey Americans, soccer Rhinos, basketball RazorSharks, lacrosse Knighthawks and Rattlers, and possibly the baseball Red Wings and football Raiders. There also will be games involving Section V high school and college teams, plus local sports specials.Steve Arvan, currently sales manager for WB-16, will be the “point man” or general manager for the new all-sports channel.Arvan tells FingerLakes1.com that the start up date for all sports Channel 26 is December 15th, but that’s a tentative date. Once the new sports channel is up and running all the Syracuse basketball games not on ESPN, ABC or CBS will be on Channel 26. For the games that are being played early this season, look for them on the leased channel 98. Those games include Northeastern, Canisus, Colgate, and maybe Baylor on December 16, if the all sports channel is not yet operational. All the SU games are also broadcast on Finger Lakes News Radio AM1110 WSFW, AM1240 WGVA, AM 1550 WCGR, AM1570 WAUB.
