Parsons home in Romulus to be torn down

The Romulus house where a man set a fire that killed his family is finally getting torn down.According to Romulus Town Supervisor David Kaiser, Seneca County will demolish the Eric Parsons house on Route 96 this Saturday (September 29), beginning at 7:00 am.Parsons was convicted in 2003 of five counts of second-degree murder and five counts of arson for the November 2001 fire, which killed his wife, Cheryl, 28, and her two sons and two daughters, all under 6.The house was fenced off and kept by the county as evidence for Parsons’ murder/arson trial. Since then, Parsons has exhausted his appeals and the county made plans to have it demolished, Kaiser said.“I am very happy to know that this house will finally be demolished,” Kaiser said. “Ever since the fire, the Parsons house has stood as a silent reminder of that horrible day. Tearing it down will help the community heal.”Kaiser said that the project was expected to take no more than a day.
