Geneva Gun Amnesty Program Set

Details have been worked out for a gun amnesty program in the city of Geneva. The one day gun drop off will be held on Saturday, October 27th from 1 PM to 5 PM at the North Street Salvation Army. The program includes a no questions asked policy. Police will check to see if a gun that was turned in was stolen so that it can be returned to the owner. Otherwise, all weapons turned in will be destroyed. Anyone turning in a weapon will receive at least a 50 dollar gift card, with 100 dollar gift cards available for more powerful weapons. A similar program was run in Rochester earlier this summer. The funding for the gift card program in Geneva is being underwritten by Casella Waste Management.
