60 News Jobs Announced at ITT in Seneca Falls

State Senator Michael Nozzolio today announced that ITT Goulds Pumps, a major employer in his district, will be creating 60 new jobs at its Seneca Falls plant. The company is investing $10 million in private funds towards the renovation of their manufacturing operations, a move that will allow the company to create the 60 new positions as well as retain 758 current employees.“Throughout my service in the State legislature, I have worked to create good-paying jobs for the residents of our region. Since the company’s beginning in the mid-1800s, Goulds Pumps has been a fixture in our area,” said State Senator Michael Nozzolio. “My dad, as well as both of my grandfathers, worked there and I know many more families in the Center Finger Lakes region that are connected to ITT/Goulds in some way. I was proud to work with Governor Paterson in creating an incentive package that will allow Goulds Pumps to retain over 750 employees and create 60 new jobs right here in Seneca County.Senator Nozzolio worked with officials from the Empire State Development Corporation to secure a $1.5 million incentive grant to aid the company in expanding in Seneca County. The project includes the renovation and upgrade of the company’s 850,000 square foot manufacturing, assembly and testing facility.Faced with increasing global competitive cost pressures, ITT Goulds recently evaluated means to improve productivity and efficiency. Prior to deciding to keeps its operation in New York State, the company considered several options, including moving the Seneca Falls pump operation to its Ashland, Pennsylvania facility or to a low-cost greenfield location. With the state assistance, the company chose to expand in New York State.ITT Industrial Process President Ken Napolitano stated, “We are grateful to Senator Michael Nozzolio for his continued support and assistance to enhance our global competitiveness, leading to job opportunities and capital investment at our Seneca Falls location.”The $1.5 million ESD grant will reimburse a portion of expenses related to the renovation and upgrade of the pump facility. The company is a manufacturer of water utility, irrigation and industrial pumping products, which are used in the chemical, pulp and paper, power generation, oil refining and mining industries. A manufacturer of pumps for over 150 years, Goulds has more than a million of its pumps installed worldwide.
