Sim Redmond Band free concert at Cornell

“The Sim Redmond Band makes early morning-music, served sunny-side up,” writes Jamie Lee in Relix Magazine. As refreshing as a perfect night’s sleep, as energizing as that first cup of dark roast, SRB will have you on your feet and dancing to irresistibly cheerful original tunes this Friday, June 26, at the first outdoor concert of Cornell University’s 2009 free summer events series. Sponsored by the School of Continuing Education and Summer Sessions, the concert begins at 7:30 p.m. on the Arts Quad (and will relocate to Uris Auditorium if it rains).SRB has been making its Afro-Caribbean, roots-rock world music here at home in Ithaca, as well as across the globe, for the past decade. Sim Redmond himself plays guitar and supplies vocals, together with the band’s one female member, Jen Middaugh, and keyboard player Nate Richardson. Supporting them are Jordan Aceto on guitar, Dan Merwin on bass, and Asa Redmond on percussion.Cornell’s free summer events series includes Friday night concerts on the Arts Quad, Tuesday night concerts and events at the Schwartz Center for the Performing Arts, and Wednesday night lectures at the Statler.
