S2AY Provide Help to Breast Cancer Patients

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM). Today, thanks to early detection and recent medical advances, women are surviving breast cancer, remaining disease-free and living longer, healthier lives. This is an exciting progress, but there are still women who do not take advantage of early detection at all and others who do not get screening mammograms and clinical breast exams at regular intervals. The S2AY Rural Health Network in partnership with the Central New York Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® will be continuing their efforts to increase the survival rates of breast cancer by continuing to help women with breast cancer who are not covered by health insurance, or who are low-income and need additional help with medical care, transportation or supplies.Breast cancer patients from Ontario, Seneca or Yates County may call their Public Health Department to find out how to access the funds, or contact the S2AY Network at 607.962.8459. The S2AY Network is an affiliation of seven Public Health Departments in Seneca, Schuyler, Steuben, Allegany, Yates, Ontario and Wayne Counties, dedicated to improving health outcomes in the region.
