Hoop’s Annual Bicycle Giveaway

What is “Hoop’s Annual Bicycle Giveaway”?In December of 2008, Robert Hooper, a resident of Seneca Falls, decided that he wanted to do something nice for children at Christmas. He donated three bicycles, which were given away at Christmas time. This was done through a coloring contest for younger children and an essay contest for older children. This year, Bob thought it might be a nice idea if there could be more.He came to Michael Scaglione, Branch Manager and Gregory Sarra, both of Five Star Bank in Waterloo and thought about a motorcycle ride to help raise money to buy more bicycles so that more children could benefit . Emily Quill, of Five Star Bank and Denise Sarra, Greg’s wife, are also assisting on the fundraisers. Employees of Five Star Bank and their families are not eligible to enter the contest to win a bike.We have partnered with the Seneca County Health Department to provide new helmets and fitting of the helmets, free of charge. We have also partnered with the House of Concern, in Seneca Falls, to see that those children who are truly needy, and who otherwise might not have a Christmas, will be the recipients of these bicycles. It is our goal to try go give back to the community in which we live and work by putting a smile on a child’s face.
