Fatal Motor Cycle Accident in Town Sennett

Sheriff David Gould reports that the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal motor cycle accident which occurred on Grant Avenue Road/Route 5 in the Town of Sennett on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 around 3:57 pm.Anders D McArthur, 36, of 915 Kirkpatrick Street, Syracuse, was westbound on Grant Avenue Road/Route 5 operating a 2003 Honda Motorcycle. As an uninvolved vehicle directly in front of Mr. McArthur made a right turn onto County House Road, a 2006 Kia operated by Keith J Juman of 404 Breakspear Road, Syracuse, made a left hand turn from County House Road onto Grant Avenue Road/Route 5 and into the path of Mr. McArthur. Mr. McArthur was unable to avoid a collision with the 2006 Kia and in the process struck the left rear side of the car and was ejected. Mr. McArthur was transported by Rural Metro to Mercy Flight and then to Upstate Medical Center where he later died of his injuries. The accident was investigated by members of the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office and the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team. Several witnesses also gave their accounts of the accident.Keith J Juman, operator of the 2006 Kia, was ticketed for Failure to Yield Right of Way on a Left Turn and will appear in the Town of Sennett Court.Sennett Fire Department, Throop Fire Department, Rural Metro Ambulance, Mercy Flight, Cayuga County Emergency Management Office, Cayuga County District Attorney’s Office and the New York State Police assisted.
