Seneca Chamber Business of the Month

Three Brothers Wineries is Seneca County Chamber of Commerce Business of the Month for June 2010.Local Winery Owners Create A Unique Experience For Wine Lovers!Three Brothers Winery was conceived in 2006 when Dave Mansfield sold his previous business and was deciding what direction he would go in next. Dave and his wife Luanne have always enjoyed wine tasting and dabbled in grape-growing on their home property. As a seasoned entrepreneur, Dave recognized the asset wineries are to New York economy and tourism – plus, he was interested in trying something that would “return him to the earth” and get him out from behind a desk. The concept of Three Brothers Wineries and Estates was created as Dave toured the property of the well – established Nagy’s Newland Winery and its 30 acres of vines. Dave and Luanne Mansfield, present owners of Three Brothers Wineries and Estates, agreed to buy Nagy’s and were blessed to have Dale Nagy, the principle winemaker, stay on board. Dave added that Erica Paolicelli, Dale’s assistant in the tasting room, “also stayed with us and has blossomed into a self-sufficient, highly effective manager of the Estates”. Three Brothers Winery & Estates is located on the North East end of Seneca Lake at 623 Lerch Road off 96A in Geneva.Dave’s idea was to create an environment unique from other successful wineries in the Finger Lakes. Three Brothers is home to three distinctly different wineries: Stony Lonesome Wine Cellars which is their upscale lodge winery offering dry reds and is the home of the signature 4 Degrees of Riesling wines, Passion Feet Wine Barn offers more of a romantic ambiance with a boutique shop and wine slushies, the third winery is Bagg Dare Wine Company that is designed to remove the “intimidation factor” for those new to wine tasting. The Bagg Dare atmosphere is laid back with a Louisiana bayou feel for those that just want to relax and have fun. Three Brothers Winery opened it’s doors in 2007 and has been growing ever since… adding a microbrewery in 2008, introducing the world to the first-ever Riesling Ale. In 2008 and 2009 they increased the size of all three tasting rooms.Luanne has worked side-by-side with Dave and Erica to keep Three Brothers Wineries a unique experience for new and repeat customers. This summer, they will launch their new cafe in Stony Lonesome serving up fresh hot breads, interesting blends of balsamic vinegars and oils, and other healthy fare. The boutique in Passion Feet is brimming with unique items for gift-giving or a little self-indulgence! Bagg Dare Wine Company will host some new bands this summer and fall, and will be bringing back the famous finger foods, including the popular fried pickles. Luanne and Erica spent the winter finding unique and useful items to compliment the Three Brothers brews in the expanded War Horse Brewing Co. Their homemade root beer is still a hot seller. Dave and Luanne are never ones to sit still, and Dave’s mind is always thinking of new and creative ideas. Who knows what will be next for Three Brothers? For this business’s success and growth, the Seneca County Chamber of Commerce is proud to recognize Three Brothers Winery as its June Business of the Month. The Business of the Month is sponsored by the Finger Lakes Times.
