Seneca County Sheriff’s Deputies while investigating a complaint of a trespass on Hecker Road in the Town of Waterloo on Wednesday, detected an odor of marijuana in the area and observed marijuana plants growing in a garden at a residence located at 1327 Hecker Road.In furtherance of their investigation Deputies interviewed John W. Nussbaumer, age 49, at the residence and detected an order of marihuana coming from inside the residence. Deputies observed two three year old children and two adults present in the residence with Nussbaumer. When Deputies attempted to further their investigation, Nussbaumer attempted to physically prevent them from doing so and was charged with Obstructing Governmental Administration. Deputies secured the scene and obtained a search warrant for a search of the premises. Deputies discovered over eight (8) pounds of marijuana in various stages of packaging inside the residence. Deputies also discovered chukka sticks during their search. Nussbaumer was also charged with Criminal Possession of Marijuana, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree, Unlawfully Dealing with a Child in the First Degree and Growing Cannabis without a license.Nussbaumer was arraigned in the Town of Waterloo Court and committed to the Seneca County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 insured bond. Additional charges are pending as the investigation continues.
