Trick-or-Treat Main Street in Palmyra

Calling all boys and ghouls (and parents, too!) for the Village of Palmyra Celebration Committee’s annual Trick-or-Treat on Main Street. Enjoy safe trick-or-treating with the Palmyra Village Merchants on Saturday, October 23, 2010 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm, with a bonfire and other festivities to follow in the Village Park from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.The Palmyra Village Merchants, located approximately between the “Four Churches” and the “flagpole”, invite you to come inside for treats and more. Look for bright orange posters in the windows of participating Merchants, and look, too for an amazing variety of goods and services available right here in downtown Palmyra. The Palmyra Community Library will be hosting its first HAUNTED HOUSE on Cuyler Street from 2-4 pm. The cost is only one canned good to be donated to the Food Pantry.After meeting the Village Merchants, join your friends and neighbors in the Village Park for a bonfire and more. Bring your pre-carved or decorated pumpkins for a contest with prizes for: Most Creative, Most Scary and Funniest pumpkin creations. Please have your pumpkins in the Village Park by 5:00PM to be judged. Contest Winners will be announced at 7:00 PM, near the bonfire. Enjoy cider and donuts around the bonfire while Historic Palmyra’s Bonnie Hayes shares Halloween stories for all ages. The Pal-Mac Towpath Fife and Drum Corp will be selling family priced hot dogs and drinks in the Village Park from 3-6 pm…raising money for their trip to Paris next year!The Palmyra Police Department and Fire Department will be on hand to conduct the bonfire, but ask that an adult accompany any children for this event to insure your children’s safety.Village Celebrations chairperson, Irene Unterborn looks forward to this annual event as a kick-off to an important time of year for the entire community: “Each year this has been a great event! The kids enjoy a very fun and safe Halloween celebration. Parents get to enjoy the evening with their kids while previewing our Merchant’s goods and services. Merchants get to show off their wares before the start of the busy holiday shopping season. I hope everybody comes out to see what the Village of Palmyra has to offer.”
