Local Theatre to participate in Statewide Festival

The Auburn Players Community Theatre and Harlequin Productions of CCC are proud to announce that two shows have been selected to participate in the Theatre Association of New York State (TANYS) Theatre Festival.“Two Woman and A Chair,” presented by the Auburn Players Community Theatre last month as part of an evening of one-acts will compete along with “The Body Washer,” presented by CCC’s Harlequin Productions earlier this month will compete against a field of nine shows chosen from among 57 shows adjudicated statewide. The Festival takes place in Batavia from November 19 – 21.“Two Woman and A Chair,” by Michael Olsen featured local actors Alicia Frame and Carole Estabrooke. The show begins when two actresses arrive at an audition to discover only a bare room with a mysterious chair. The only instructions on what they should do are contained on the flyer advertising the play, and it soon becomes clear that this is no ordinary audition; or is it an audition at all?In “The Body Washer,” by Rosemary Frisino Toohey, the war in Iraq is explored, from the perspectives of three women: a soldier, a reporter, and an Iraqi body washer. This shows features performances by three CCC students, Lauren Maltese, Rachel Bodner, and Lizzy Fennessy.Both shows can be seen this Thursday, November 18th at 8 PM at the Irene Bisgrove Theater at Cayuga Community College. The two groups will hold an Open Rehearsal and Benefit. The shows are free, but donations will be accepted to help offset the costs for the shows to participate in the Festival
