Ontario’s Optimax highlights employee retention

In 20 years of business, Optimax has undergone two major expansions and increased the number of employees from less than ten to more than 150, with more than 40 employees having been with Optimax for ten years or more. Retaining good employees is just as important as recruiting good employees and we want to keep our team satisfied so they come ready to give their best performance.Optimax offers some unique benefits that attract new hires to our workplace. Those benefits include direct hire, flexible hours, internal training and an open door policy adhered to by all management. But once that employee isn’t new anymore, things like family oriented activities, our Personal Time Off system and overall flexibility help them appreciate the work environment they come to every day.For an employee to truly feel satisfied, we believe they must receive a balance of ownership and reward. This is how Optimax has been successful:• By mentoring new hires, our veterans get a sense of purpose and responsibility that impassions them in their role. It gives them a voice in the hiring process so the teams that are formed collaborate well together. • Through continuous improvement initiatives and best practices, employees get to voice their ideas and see them implemented to improve existing processes, directly impacting their own roles. • By following our performance review process, employees maintain a self-awareness of where they stand in their role and with their peers throughout the year.• Career development and tuition reimbursement give employees the edge needed to progress and be successful as their know-how and responsibility grow.As a finalist in Inc.’s 2010 Top Small Company Workplaces competition, it is important to Optimax to maintain a happy and healthy workplace and continue to earn the good favor of our employees. As we continue to grow and create new jobs, we want to attract and retain the workers that will keep us on the cutting-edge of technology and prepare us for a successful future.
