Seneca Falls Farmers Market Returns Wednesday

Come on out on Wednesday, June 15th for the grand opening of the Seneca Falls Farmers Market. The market has reverted to earlier hours to better serve the public so visit People’s Park in Seneca Falls from 9AM to 1PM. While visiting the park, why not plan to have lunch which is being offered every week by The Clarence. If you can’t make it the first week, come out any Wednesday from June 15th until mid-October and buy locally (New York State) grown fruits and vegetables. In addition look for homemade baked goods, jams and jellies, honey, eggs, fresh meats, local wines and cheese, and cut flowers. The market is located in People’s Park, canal side, near the Seneca Falls Community Center. The market will promote locally grown and produced items. All of our produce vendors will be accepting Farmers’ Market Nutrition Coupons, available through the WIC Program and Office for the Aging for families and seniors 60 and over who meet the criteria. Also available will be the ability for food stamp participants to utilize their Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) cards to purchase qualifying items at the market. Seneca County Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) will be at the market every week with an information table and new recipes each week to help you use the fresh, local produce you purchase at the market. The table will be staffed by an Extension staff member or volunteer. Healthy Pride of New York food demonstrations, with free samples and recipes, will be presented on specific dates, so look for announcements. Gardening questions will be answered by volunteer Master Gardeners. The market is a joint effort of Seneca County CCE and the Seneca Falls Development Corporation.
