Police investigating Ira & Cato daytime burglaries

Sheriff David Gould reports that the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office and the New York State Police are both investigating daytime burglaries involving a suspect vehicle described as an older model Lincoln. On 08/31/11 the New York State Police took a report of a burglary of a residence on Humphrey Rd. in the Town of Ira at which time the homeowner reported electronics and jewelry stolen. A witness reported seeing a silver colored Lincoln Continental parked in the area. The burglary occurred between 2:45pm and 3:50pm that day. On 10/18/11 The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a burglary of a barn on Jorolemon Rd. near Quimby’s Bridge in the Town of Cato at which time the homeowner reported 2 chainsaws and a crossbow stolen. Witnesses in that area described seeing an older white Lincoln parked in that area between 5:00 and 6:00pm, a few days prior to the report, occupied by a white male approximately 50-60 years old. The actual time frame of this burglary is unknown.It is unknown at this time if the two incidents are related or if the witnesses did in fact see the same vehicle parked in both areas however the description is similar enough to take note of.
