Horse & carriage slammed by SUV on 414

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Department reports Deputies investigated a Personal injury MVA that involved a motor vehicle and a horse drawn Amish buggy. Deputies report a vehicle driven by Lynn M Partin age 50 of 7013 Depot Rd Ovid was northbound on Rt 414 at the intersection of the Leader Rd , when a horse drawn Amish buggy operated by John S Stoltzfus age 20 of 4350 Yost Rd Waterloo , failed to yield and pulled in front of Partins vehicle. Partin was unable to avoid the collision- striking the horse and causing the buggy to slam into the side of her 2003 Ford Explorer – shattering both drivers’ side windows. The buggy was disconnected from the horse and spun off the east side of the road – hitting a southbound vehicle driven by Jayne C Moskal age 34 of 6 Oak St Hudson Falls NY. Deputies report that Stoltzfus and his wife Ella age 27 were thrown from the buggy. Both were treated at the scene by South Seneca Ambulance, and transported to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester where Ella was treated for contusions and abrasions and John is being treated for a broken pelvis and possible internal injuries. Sheriff’s Deputies state that Moskal and her passenger Mason Moskal age 4 were not injured and her car received minor damage and was driven from the scene. Lynn Partin was transported by North Seneca Ambulance to Geneva General Hospital to be treated for neck and back pain, and her passenger Alexander McDonald age 8 of 5040 Rt 414 Romulus was also transported by NSA to GGH where he received stitches to the facial area and was released. Partins vehicle received heavy damage and was towed from the scene. The Amish buggy was destroyed and removed from the scene as well. The horse was found at a nearby farm and is believed to be not severely injured. Deputies report they were assisted at the scene by Fayette Fire Dept, and Seneca County Emergency Management. Deputies report the investigation is continuing.
