Conquest woman gets 21 to life for boyfriend’s murder

Brenda M. Newkirk, age 41, was sentenced Thursday in Cayuga County Court to 21 years to life for the intentional murder of her boyfriend in Conquest in October of 2012.Prior to sentencing, the defendant who had previously waived her right to appeal, attempted to withdraw her guilty plea. Her motion was denied. On October 28th, 2012, at 6:02 p.m. this defendant repeatedly fired a 12 gauge at Henry Davis Jr., moving closer with each shot to be sure she did not miss. She fired five rounds, striking her victim three times. The last two shots were to Davis’s back, including the fatal shot. The defendant was in no imminent danger from her boyfriend. He was unarmed, on the phone with 911, opening the door for the police, who were on their way. This defendant exhibited no remorse and attacked the character of Davis, attempting to paint herself as the victim. Her many hateful allegations were not supported by any of the physical evidence. The defendant has exhibited a pattern of physically violent behavior. This was the third time within a two year period that someone had to call 911 against her.
