Live Wayne County Battle: Red Creek vs. C-S

The Red Creek Rams and head coach Jamie Grimshaw make their FL1 Sports debut on Saturday night in Clyde against Tim Jackson’s Clyde-Savannah Golden Eagles in a game that will be broadcast live on FingerLakes1.TV and YouTube beginning at 7:30 pm.If you’re a basketball fan and looking for reasons to check this game out, we have plenty for you…The Wayne County League of Section V is extremely balanced this season and the title is up-for-grabs with any of the top 6 teams having a chance to claim the crown.Red Creek, traditionally not one of the teams atop the league standings, has jumped out to a 3-0 start with convincing wins against Sodus and East Rochester.Clyde-Savannah is the defending league champion and coming off a sectional title last year but gone are the big three that anchored the team, Joe Faniel, Joemaine Bogan and two-time Wayne County player of the year Kam Disanto. All three were All-Greater Rochester selections in their senior season.C-S is still one of the teams in consideration for the league title despite the losses. Senior big man Mike Turner is one of the best athletes in the league and will draw the focus of the Rams defense. On Thursday night he notched 23 points and pulled down 18 rebounds in a big win over Sodus. The Golden Eagles also feature a freshman point guard named Derek Chance who is being talked about as the next great player at Clyde-Savannah.Red Creek brings perhaps the best player in all the Wayne-Finger Lakes league in 6’4 senior Jake Slobe. Slobe, regarded as one of the hardest working players in the area, can be found hoisting up shots at 6:00 am in the gym 2-3 times a week before school. A starter on varsity since a sophomore, Jake Slobes senior campaign is off to a great start as he’s scored over 25 in each of the Rams wins including a 34 point season-high in Red Creek’s win over Sodus. Slobe sits at just 52 points shy of 1,000 for his great career. The question is, will he get there on Saturday night with a 50+ point game? With Slobe, we wouldn’t be surprised.Join Dave Barnick and Jim Sinicropi live from Clyde, NY at 7:30 Saturday night for a special Holiday Weekend Wayne County battle on FL1 Sports. You can watch all of FingerLakes1.TV’s programming by browsing directly to www.FingerLakes1.TV on your computer or tablet.
