The Great Downtown Ithaca Chili Cook-Off is set to take place on February 7th (with a blizzard date of Sunday Feb. 8th) from 11:30 – 4:00pm with over 45 different tasty chili products available for sampling . Among this year’s entries hoping to take home the famed Chili Trophy for best chili are all your favorite Ithaca Area Restaurants featuring new twists on classic chili. Ticket holders can cash in on samples at every turn such as new chili cupcakes from Felicia’s Atomic Lounge, local beer and wine samples from Bandwagon Brewpub, Six Mile Creek, Three Brothers Winery and many more Ticket sales will begin February 1st at the following locations: The Downtown Visitors Center on the Commons next to 15 Steps, Collegetown Bagels (Collegetown, East Hill and Downtown), and the Downtown Ithaca Alliance (DIA) office located in Center Ithaca. Tickets cost $5.00 for 5 Tickets and $10 for 11 Tickets. V.I.P. passes cost $20 for 10 tickets ($40 for 22) and come with a sassy chili necklace while supplies last. The V.I.P. pass allows the patron access to a separate fast moving V.I.P. line. In order to avoid waiting to purchase tickets, the DIA encourages attendees to purchase their tickets in advance. In addition to the numerous tasty and unique chili offerings, this year’s cook-off will feature a Chili Idol singing competition with a trophy and cash prize for the winners, wine and beer tastings, and the famed hot pepper showdown. The chili mustache competition returns for its 6th year of facial perfection. This Facial Fashion Expose’ is a competition open to the public to show off their finely crafted facial hair. Contestants should meet at the main Chili stage at 3pm to enter the contest for the grand prize mustache trophy and V.I.P. chili tasting tickets and other prizes. Kiddos love chili, hot cocoa, bounce houses and face painting. These are all available indoors at Center Ithaca during Chili Cook-off. While the adults take a few minutes to rest their legs, the kids can warm up using the extra chili tickets at the inside Bounce House and Face Painting by Cami booths.The Great Downtown Ithaca Chili Cook-Off is sponsored by contributions from the Tompkins Trust Company and the Downtown Ithaca Alliance, along with support from your local restaurant community.
