Also on Wednesday night, Dundee’s Tyler Kelly scored 30 points including a school record 8 three pointers as the Scots beat Red Jacket by 10 points and the Naples Big Green move one game closer to a perfect regular season with a win over HAC. Whether they share it with Lyons or take it alone will depend on the outcome of the North Rose-Wolcott @ Lyons game, also on Friday night. NR-W won the first meeting in January. If Lyons should lose, the Rams would have sole possession of the title, if Lyons wins, they would be co-champions. Lyons last won a share of the Wayne County title in 2013, halving with Clyde-Savannah, one year after winning the championship outright in 2012 under head coach Zac Young.- Mick Salter’s Naples Big Green keeps rolling through their regular season schedule with a 21 point win over HAC on Wednesday night. Naples is currently ranked #2 in New York State Class C rankings. Standing between Naples and regular season perfection is Bloomfield on Saturday, South Seneca at home on Tuesday night and, two days later, Red Jacket on the road.- Tough losses, but encouraging week for Romulus. The Warriors lost another close game Wednesday night, a 5 point loss at the hands of Marion. Just one night earlier, the Warriors lost a 1 point game to Williamson. With these close results, it is just a matter of time before Kyle Collinsworth’s Warriors break their current 35 game losing streak. There are currently 4 winless teams in all of Section V this season, Romulus, Friendship, Warsaw and Webster-Christian.- Marcus Whitman is quietly putting together a solid season at 12-3 with yet another win on Wednesday night. The Wildcats are currently the #3 seed in a winnable Class B2 sectional bracket. North Rose-Wolcott is seeded just ahead of them at #2. A 14-3 Wellsville team holds the top seed.- Speaking of Sectionals, of the ten classifications in Section V, Wayne-Finger Lakes teams hold the #1 seed in three. Newark is a #1 seed in Class A2, Mynderse is a #1 seed in Class C1, and Naples is a #1 seed in Class C2 with Lyons right behind in the 2 slot.Standings through 2/11FINGER LAKES EAST01.
