Grab your bait and grab your pole. Head on out to the fishin’ hole. It’s Carp Derby Time! Waterloo Rotary is sponsoring the 35th annual Finger Lakes Carp Derby on Sunday, June 14. Fishing can take place anywhere in the Finger Lakes from sunrise till noon. 2014 Rotary Carp Derby winners. – left to right – 1st, Cory Jensen, 37.228 lbs; 2nd, Travis Groet, 36.028; 3rd, Kelly Maher, 33.748; 4th,Nate Shumway, 32.512; 5th, Joe Ralston, 31.208Weigh-in will be from noon to 3 pm on Oak Island in Waterloo.Cash prizes will be awarded! $500 for first place, $250 for second, $150 for third, and $100 for fourth. Fish that come in fifth through eighth will earn $50 each. The smallest carp will win $50 and 10 additional $25 winners will be drawn at random.Rotarians and Interactors will staff a concession stand where food and drinks may be purchased. A 50/50 raffle will be held. Tickets are 6 for $5. Registration is $10 per individual or $25 per immediate family. All participants must pre register by 4 pm June 13.
