Strong gusty winds, which will be sustained out of the south between 15 and 25 mph will frequently gust beyond 40 mph and some locations in the Finger Lakes could even see a few gusts near 50 mph. The National Weather Service says that minor damage to trees and sporadic power outages are possible. However, widespread problems are not expected. In addition to the Wind Advisory for the eastern Finger Lakes, there is also a Winter Weather Advisory, which is in effect for Oneida, Oswego, Jefferson and Lewis counties through the overnight and into Saturday morning. The potential for freezing rain, mixed with sleet and snow could make travel difficult in these locations.Forecasters are also watching for a potential storm next week, which could impact the region on Tuesday. However, the National Weather Service points out that forecast confidence at this point is very low.
